Shattered Ice
What was your first experience with film and how did it influence your first project?
My first experience with film was as a kid going to the movie theater’s with my family whenever a new major release was coming out. That continued on as I got older and always had a passion for the creative process of turning a story, idea, concept into something extraordinary that could resonate with people globally. I had the pleasure of working with some of the top talent in the industry as an agent. Packaging the right actors in the right roles is something I take pride in. There is the value angle to ensure whoever we cast can sustain the budget in sales. However, having the flexibility like we had with Shattered Ice; you will see on screen that we were able to cast authentic to each role and it really shows on screen. Being able to share this story with the world and keep it’s authenticity was a major component to Jake Miskin’s mission. We played college soccer together and I helped him through this process over the 10+ years it took to make this film. It wasn’t until I switched from agent to producer that I was really able to position the film in a place to get into production. Seeing it completed and the response from the community it has received; we feel that we accomplished exactly what we set out to do.
Who is (are) your favorite filmmakers?
Bobby Farrelly, James Cameron, Doug Liman, Jon Favreau
What are you working on that no one knows about?
There are a lot of projects in development I have at IMC; but here a few to highlight some.
Illuminator – co production with Spyglass and my company. It is written by the writers of 10 Clover Field Lane (Josh and Matt); and adapted from Elizabeth Bear’s short story entitled ‘Covenant’. Amber Templemore is producing alongside us and we are currently casting. It was previously announced but not our involvement or taking this film on for Spyglass to produce and deliver it.
Logline: ILLUMINATOR is an elevated psychological thriller set in the near future. A notorious serial killer is given the option of life imprisonment or ‘mind mending,’ a new procedure where the brain is remapped and ‘cured.’ Several years after the mind-mend, a woman is abducted under circumstances that point to our allegedly rehabilitated killer.
