The Filmmaker Four: Ntare Guma Mbaho Mwine

You might know Ntare Guma Mbaho Mwine as the actor who next stars opposite Michael C. Hall on the Paramount+ Showtime series Dexter: Resurrection or opposite Taron Egerton in the upcoming AppleTV series Firebug or from his past performances on The Lincoln Lawyer, Dead Ringers, The Chi, Treme, The Knick or the lead role in the Sundance Award Winning film Farewell Amor. But he’s also a native of the Berkshire’s where he grew up in Stockbridge Massachusetts and attended 3rd through 6th grade at the Bible Speaks school, the Stockbridge Plain School and the Muddy Brook Regional Elementary School in Great Barrington. He’s excited to return to the Berkshires with his award-winning documentary Memories of Love Returned, which includes photos of his childhood home at Pine & Vine Streets in Stockbridge.

What was your first experience with film and how did it influence your first project?
My first experience with film was making home movies on my Dad’s 8 mm silent film camera. Having this early experience influenced me to have a sense of play and discovery when behind the camera.

Ousmane Sembene, Steven Soderbergh, Rungano Nyoni

What are you working on that no one knows about?
A road trip film that takes place in Uganda.

Who would play you in a movie? What’s your go to movie snack? What’s the film title that best describes your life?
I’d play myself.
