Sponsor Spotlight – Granville House

Terri and Terry Coughlin
Granville House, Great Barrington

Terri and Terry met in 1998 and discussed the dream of one day owning a Bed and Breakfast on their very first date. That dream became location specific in 2000 when they spent a portion of their honeymoon in Great Barrington. They spent the next 19 years working with Danny Meyer at Union Square Hospitality Group, learning and fine tuning the art of hospitality. In 2020, they finally realized their dream by moving up to the Berkshires and opening Granville House, a five guest room inn, located on Division Street in Great Barrington.

What compelled you to partner with BIFF?
We actually learned about it by flipping through one of the programs we found at a local restaurant. As soon as we read through it, we both said “How do we get involved, this looks amazing!?!” A few days later, we were hanging out with Karen (Allen) and asked about BIFF. She got us in touch with Kelley the next day and the rest is history!

What has your experience been like as a sponsor with BIFF?
Absolutely amazing! BIFF, more than anything, is the event we look forward to every year. BIFF almost feels like summer camp! We spend a few days meeting new friends and having the time of our life, and then everyone goes home and we feel a bit of sadness, but mostly joy over the time we shared together.

How have you seen the community grow and gather over the years with BIFF?
One of our favorite parts of BIFF is meeting the volunteers and learning about them and their history with the festival. They burst with pride to be a part of something special. Many of them have been volunteering since day one and they love sharing that as a wonderful badge of honor!

FLASH ROUND – for both of you:

Who would play you in a movie? Since our business is called Granville House, we’ve gotta go with Jimmy Stewart and Donna Reed!

What’s your go to movie snack? Definitely the combination of buttered pop corn and Raisinets.

What’s the film title that best describes your life? There’s only one choice, It’s a Wonderful Life!
