1. What compelled you to partner with BIFF?
We’ve been with BIFF since day ONE! I believed then (and now) that in the rich tapestry of culture that is our Berkshires that film and all its related creative components was sorely missing back 20 years ago. I was very involved in Berkshire Creative at that time and as a community we were focused on the intersection of creative work, job creation, and building reasons for people to live and work in the Berkshires as full-time creatives. BIFF was a key part of realizing that vision so being a part of bringing it to life has been a tremendous opportunity and pleasure these last 20 years!
2. What has your experience been like as a sponsor with BIFF?
We are honored to be a sponsor of BIFF – having our logo up on the big screen every year – and knowing that people can make that connection between the super, global brand that BIFF has become and our Studio is a no-brainer. Being connected to BIFF as a sponsor means that we share a common vision with other forward-thinking businesses in the region – and the country – and the world – that art, creativity, opportunity, community and FUN matters – so we want to be a part of that. Who wouldn’t!? Shout out to Amanda Hill on the Studio Two team for being the lead designer on everything BIFF for many years – as well as everyone on the Studio Two team over the last two decades who have pulled out all the stops to make deadlines and help make BIFF the fantastic brand we know and love!
3. How have you seen the community grow and gather over the years with BIFF?
Wow – since the first days when everyone thought we were nuts to even try to create a world-class film festival in the Berkshires to today when everyone just assumes BIFF has always been around!?! BIFF attracts ENERGY – because the vibe is so good. BIFF fills theaters, restaurants, and the streets with energized audiences and you just want to be around it. It’s been great to see more and more people from the film industry get to know BIFF, come and “give it a look” and become year-after-year converts. BIFF has been such a great catalyst also to keeping our gathering places alive and well – from the evolution of the Triplex, programming for the Mahaiwe, and bringing audiences into new and different spaces all over the Berkshires BIFF creates community.
4.FLASH ROUND – for you:
1.Who would play you in a movie? Jason Statham. He’s good with tools and I dig his haircut and the whole “get it done” vibe… 😉
2.What’s your go to movie snack? Big ‘ol bucket of popcorn, buttered old-school. And a giant diet Coke.
3.What’s the film title that best describes your life? That’s a tough one. I’d have to say that I feel a lot of parallel qualities to various John Cusak films – we’re the same age and his films over the years always hit in that right spot. Within that I’d say “High Fidelity” hits the mark best – that whole thing about being a frustrated creative person, various struggles with love and life – being there for other people when it matters. I’ll go with that.
