Francisco Bello

Francisco Bello is an Oscar and three-time Emmy nominee. He shot and produced SALIM BABA, nominated for a Best Short Documentary Oscar and an Emmy. He produced and edited WAR DON DON, winner of the Special Jury Prize at the SXSW Film Festival, the inaugural Karen Schmeer Documentary Editing Award, and two Emmy nominations. For these early career distinctions, he was awarded the National Association of Latino Independent Producers (NALIP) Estela Award. Additional highlights include writing and editing Barbara Kopple’s DESERT ONE, editing the SXSW Narrative Grand Jury Prize winning MOST BEAUTIFUL ISLAND, the Peabody winning BEST KEPT SECRET, Penny Lane’s OUR NIXON, Richard Rowley’s Emmy-winning THE BLUE WALL, and THE FIRST WAVE, to be released by Nat Geo, Neon and Participant. He co-directed DREAMING AGAINST THE WORLD, seen at the Telluride Film Festival, the closing night of DocNYC and Asia Society. As a director Francisco is developing an animated documentary feature, a docu-series, and an interactive scripted drama. He is a member of the Documentary Branch of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, American Cinema Editors, and serves on the board of the Karen Schmeer Film Editing Fellowship.
