Next Great Filmmaker Award Announced!

On behalf of the BIFF and Shakespeare and Company, a big thank you to our incredible Berkshire community for coming out and supporting our pop-up Berkshire Drive-In! Over the past 8 weekends, we welcomed more than 2,000 film lovers to nearly 40 curated, independent films with 2 dozen filmmakers in attendance! What a thrill to be able to gather socially in a safe and physically distanced way. Thank you to Allyn Burrows and our partners at Shake & Co, Sam Sorrentino, Jack Gibson, Graham Moriarty, Brian Hoff and the Palm Springs International Animated Fest, the talented filmmakers and our incredibly dedicated volunteers for making this a reality! And thank YOU, our audience, for making this endeavor a success in these unprecedented times!

We also want to thank our friends at the Mahaiwe and the Basilica for partnering with BIFF to present two BIFF evenings at their drive-ins. Lastly, thank you to our generous sponsors: Canyon Ranch, Toole Insurance, Ellen and Scott Hand, Mary Mott and Gordon Simmering, Stone House Properties, Nejaime's Wine Cellar and Williamstown Theater Festival...THANK YOU ALL!

We are also thrilled to announce the winner of the BIFF and Berkshire Bank's "Next Great Filmmaker Award." The winner is....BABY KATE directed by Jennifer LaFleur. Jennifer had this to say about the competition, "
Having grown up and attended college and grad school in Massachusetts, the Berkshires have long been a source of inspiration and creativity. I feel so grateful for this award, especially as it was considered alongside so many wonderful films. I’m looking forward to better days where we can all come back together to sit in a dark room watching stories that make us laugh, make us think, and help us grow our minds and hearts. And I look forward to the day I can bring my newborn daughter back home to introduce her to the magic of the Berkshires. Thank you so much for this honor!”

Congratulations Jennifer and thanks to Berkshire Bank and all those who voted to support independent filmmakers!

Although the drive-ins are over, BIFF will continue to strive to keep our audiences, physically distanced, but socially engaged. Thanks for staying engaged with us!
